Class Overview: Introduction to Pants Construction — A Weekend Workshop.
Students will learn foundational garment-making techniques by constructing a pair of beginner-friendly pants over two full days. Saturday focuses on fabric preparation, pattern study, tracing, and cutting. Sunday concentrates on machine sewing fundamentals, assembly, and finishing techniques. The project is designed for beginners/intermediate and paced to accommodate varying skill levels. You should have some proficiency with a home sewing machine; ideally you have made something with your sewing machine before. Professional instructors complete this project in approximately four and a half hours of sewing plus forty-five minutes of prep. Beginner students can expect to take three to four times longer. Students will leave with a nearly completed garment, with minor finishing such as hemming possible to complete at home.

Saturday — Prep Day
•9:00–10:00am — Welcome, introductions, tools and materials overview
•10:00–10:30am — Pattern reading and fabric grain orientation and fit explanation
•10:30am–12:30pm — Tracing and cutting
•12:30–1:30pm — Lunch break
•1:30–3:30pm — Continued cutting and any catch-up time
•3:30–4:00pm — Wrap up, organize pieces, preview Sunday's sewing steps
Sunday — Sewing Day
•9:00–9:30am — Recap and machine setup
•9:30–11:30am — Sewing session one: main seams and assembly
•11:30am–12:30pm — Lunch break
•12:30–3:30pm — Sewing session two: finishing construction
•3:30–4:00pm — Final review, fitting check, take-home finishing instructions
