Some dresses are more than garments—they're tributes, memories made tangible, and celebrations of lives beautifully lived.

A Loss, A Walk, A Window

In March 2024, designer and creative consultant, Liz Shaw, lost her friend Kim, a beautiful force of nature who loved music, fashion, unicorns, and disco balls. For months, Liz struggled with how to honor Kim's vibrant spirit until a summer day in July 2025 when she walked past our window on Main Street in Catskill.

There, two pieces caught her eye: a Language of the Birds sarong dress in stunning disco ball fabric and our signature Zero-Waste Dress. In that moment of inspiration, Liz saw the possibility—a morphing of the two designs that could capture everything Kim loved.

The Birth of the Kim Dress

Liz reached out to our team with her vision for a collaboration, and our response was immediate and enthusiastic. Together, we brought the "Kimmy" Dress to life—a custom Zero-Waste design that combines the sustainable construction of our signature dress with our friend, Tsia's, disco ball fabric that would have made Kim smile.

The result is more than a memorial. It's wearable joy, a garment that honors one person's love of sparkle and celebration while embodying Made X Hudson's commitment to sustainable, zero-waste fashion design.

Zero Waste, Infinite Meaning

The "Kimmy" Dress represents what we believe fashion can be: personal, purposeful, and planet-conscious. Built on our zero-waste pattern that uses every inch of fabric, each custom collaboration carries the same environmental commitment as our core collection—no scraps, no waste, only intention.

Whether you're honoring someone you love, celebrating a milestone, or simply want a dress that reflects your unique story, Made X Hudson welcomes conversations about custom collaborations that bring your vision to life.
