Modern Day Crochet

Cheryl of The Highlands Foundry is one of our beloved local makers — she designs and sews each garment herself from vintage and heritage textiles, so every piece is a one-of-a-kind creation. This shawl-collar beauty is another from our Indoor-Outdoor Jackets edit and is not only a season-spanner, able to be worn as an indoor layer in Winter or as outerwear in Spring and Fall, but being naturally off-white undyed cotton, it could literally go with just about anything. For this outfit of the day, we’ve paired it with our own Made X Hudson Jogger Pants (made on-site) in a vintage gold-waxed cotton and a locally made, grey gauze top from Vilma Mare (for another take on these base pieces, see Cozy at Home); shearling-lined Sabah shoes in undyed leather that will take on their own beautiful patina; and a featherweight wool gauze scarf from local print designer Language of the Birds. The scarf is one you’ll always want in your bag and will reach for anytime there is a slight chill in the air.
