WE’VE LOVED all the great feedback on Eric’s bedspread-turned-outfit and wanted to collect a few more great alterations and custom-made clothing stories here on the blog that we’ve shared on social media in recent months. It’s such an honor to be a part of each of these stories, and we can’t wait to share even more of them going forward!
JAMIE’S BIG NIGHT AT THE CARLYLE (top)
A beloved Made X regular, Jamie DuMont hosts the Tony Awards After After Party at the Carlyle Hotel, and came to us last spring for an outfit worthy of a Broadway gathering. We made him a Made to Order MXH Chore Jacket in pale pink deadstock silk faille; our draped-front jogger pant in magenta silk faille, customized with tuxedo stripes to match the jacket; and a custom top to match the pants. We couldn't have been happier with how it turned out, and neither could Jamie. (We also all want this outfit.)
We’re just getting started on Jamie’s look for this year’s party, and will be sure to share it with you when we can! Meanwhile, Jamie also fell instantly in love with the deadstock red cashmere Chore Jacket that starred in our Holiday Gift Guide and had us alter it to fit him. Chore Jackets might need to start coming with a warning: people do tend to get addicted to them.
THE CHERISHED CATS
After a new customer bought one of our handkerchief-hem blouses a few months ago and had us do some alterations to make it exactly what she wanted (that’s her being measured for the alterations at the top of our Alterations page), she was so happy with it that she brought us a piece of owl-and-cat-print fabric she’d been saving “for decades.” She loved the fabric so much she’d never been able to cut into it and was waiting for exactly the right use for it — and decided she wanted another top like the one we’d just customized for her. She was so pleased when she picked it up and saw that we had used some of the fabric trimmings to make the interior facings and the button loop at the back neck, and it was great to see her so happy with her decision about what to use that long-cherished fabric for.
HAL’S TUXEDO SHIRT
Another repeat Made X client, Hal, came to us last year for a custom tuxedo shirt that would work with both the unique lapel of his Alexander McQueen tuxedo jacket and a custom piece of jewelry he planned to wear it with, and Sergio dreamed up just the thing. It was a fun design challenge, and we’re thrilled with how it turned out — as was Hal, who we look forward to working with again.
We’re here for alterations, made to order and custom designs, and everything in between — whether it’s hemming a pair of jeans or creating a red carpet gown.
What can we make for you?
